Finally a quick solution to analyze your mobile website's performance.
BlueTrain Mobile's launch of the Mobile Grader is free and simple to use. Enter your URL wait a few seconds and your mobile websites performance score will be shown. No software to download here, it's all completed online.
Mobile Grader gives each URL a 0 - 100 score, which is derived from "The Mobile 100", a group of today's familiar top mobile websites.
I went to their site and found the Mobile Grader and found a simple uncluttered page. I submitted the URL to be graded and in less than 10 seconds had the results.
Gurrgle.com scored a 67 out of 100, which I felt was very realistic of my expectations. I haven't upgraded the coding to HTML5, have several images, and scripts. What kept the score high was the 35 points for having a mobile version of the website.
The score breakdown consists of six categories:
- Mobile Website, possible 35 points
- Website Speed, possible 15 points
- # OF Files, possible 15 points
- Page Size, possible 15 points
- Number of Images, possible 5 points
- No Flash Found, possible 5 points
- Optimized Code, possible 5 points
- No Hover States, possible 5 Points
According to Andy Komack, VP of Marketing at BlueTrain Mobile "It is quite difficult to get a score above the mid-seventies."
Check out the breakdown of how scores are generated, from Griffin Mahoney's, chief architect of Mobile Grader, article "How Does My Website Perform On Mobile? An Introduction To MobileGrader.com".
Give it a try and find out how mobile friendly your website is. What ever the score is it will help prepare your business for the fast growing mCommerce market.
Myself, I was very thankful for submitting the Gurrgle.com site, as it helped reminded me that better optimized coding is in need.
Thanks BlueTrain Mobile for this new tool!
