Best 5 Free Apps For Small Biz Start Up

When it comes to eCommerce, mCommerce, or any small business start-up, it is vital to stay connected while mobile. With several eCommerce businesses, SEM clients, a nonprofit, and 2 business start-ups, I found these 6 free apps useful to keep connected while on the move throughout the day.  Give these a try and take care of your start-up business while on the go.

Square

Accept Mobile Payments With SquareNo matter if you're type of new start-up, excepting credit cards while on the move will help condense your work time. Square is great for those who take their online products or services and participate at expos, events, shows, festivals, or for nonprofits donations. The flexibility to accept credit cards at your brick and mortar storefront and while mobile eliminates the need for a high cost merchant account and POS terminal.

Signing up for Square is a breeze and their card swipers are free. Once you receive your dongle (card reader), you can start accepting cards right away. The rate for cards swiped is 2.75% and hand entered is 3.5% plus $0.15 per transaction. You'll see your money in your bank account within 36 hours on all swiped transactions. Hand entered transaction over $1000 will have a 30 day hold.  To keep your charged rates down on the road, make sure you carry more then one card reader with you.

CardMunch

Cardmunch For Your Contacts

Keeping track of your business contacts are now made simple with CardMunch. This app was recently bought by the very familiar company LinkedIn and is free. It's very simple to work with and keeps your business contacts organized on your smartphone and have the ability to see mutual LinkedIn contacts, credentials, and more.

This great app is easy to use. Just snap a shot of the business card and in a few minutes the contact info will be scraped and uploaded to your account.

The latest edition CardMunch 3.0 was just released a couple of months ago and features a Rolodex way of viewing your cards. Just flip your phone to the side view and up pops this new feature, then just swipe through the original cards.

Dropbox

Dropbox

Dropbox allows you to store and share files in the cloud and is also great for a backup service.

Just signup for the free plan and it gives you 2gb, but you can get more storage through referrals or their monthly paid plans. Once signed up download Dropbox on your computer and add the app to your mobile device, and your ready to share files. You can share files with the general public or restrict them to other Dropbox subscribers.

I found this to be a useful tool when needing to share and collaborate on documents and images with web developers, student interns, and developing projects.

Evernote

EvernoteEvernote is another great solution for sharing with your office or home computer while on the move. It has three platforms, desktop computer, mobile phone, or online. It's a good note taking application, while also can serve as a great place to store photos from your mobile device's camera. An awesome feature is that you can use OCR, enter text for the image and later search using keywords. Great for taking snapshots of products, whiteboards at a meeting, and people of events.

Synchronization from mobile devise and home computer is quick to the online account. This helps to eliminate loss of data because of a crash.

You get 40MB per month for uploading and erratic OCR performance for the free version, but can upgrade to priority OCR, 5000MB a month, better security, and support.

Analytics Agent Lite

Analytics Agent Lite AppKeeping track of your Google Analytics couldn't be easier when using the Analytics Agent Lite free edition. It gives you easy access to your visitors, traffic source, and content data. You have the choice to select viewing data by day, week, or month. If you have all your sites on one account this makes it simple to check each site while you're on the go and the ability to see what keywords are generating your traffic, enabling you to update  your AdWord account once you get on your office or home compute. (Yea, it's unfortunate that there are no apps to control your Google AdWord account.}

The one thing I find annoying with the free version is the add on the top, otherwise this is a great app.
